Training Program 3 of three consecutive programs to prepare for 2024 Sprint Outrigger Worlds.

Prepare for the World Outrigger Sprint Worlds with this targeted training plan.  The plan includes four workouts per week gearing for the trials.  

March 4, 2024- Worlds (date TBD)

Level: Intermediate to Advanced

This program is specifically geared to  Outrigger Sprints  but whether this is your goal or whether you are training for dragon boat racing, an OC-1 trial for dragon boat selection, masters sprint kayak-canoe racing or a local distance outrigger race season, this is the program for you.  

This small boat training program combined with  distance-focused OC-6 training will provide a good breadth of fitness for outrigger paddlers also racing change races or iron races of 1.5-2 hours or less.

Focus:

  • Workouts will provide small boat preparation to race 500m, 1000m and 1500m
  • Resting for non-major race events will be at athlete's discretion

Includes: 

  • Four workouts a week
  • Guidance on how to maximize the effectiveness of your workouts


Don't have time to do four workouts a week?  That's ok!  A priority is given and you get done what you can each week.

Joining after the program has started?  That's ok!  You can jump in.

Kamini Jain

Kamini brings to her coaching 36 years of success as both an athlete and coach. Her approach has been developed from a 20 year full-time devotion to sprint kayaking in combination with many years of high performance outrigger canoe and dragon boat competition. Combining high-level training and full-time coaching in a variety of paddling disciplines has allowed Kamini to examine paddle sports in a way that few people have had the opportunity to do. Her experiential knowledge is supported by master’s degrees in both physiology and leadership. Kamini sees sport as a way for people to expand their boundaries, live without limits, and gain empowerment by proving their physical strength and mental discipline. Her coaching objective is to encourage paddlers to set ambitious goals and provide them with the tools to perform their absolute best and fulfill their objectives.
